I'm only 13 years old with black hair, but why do I have some white hair in my hair?

I found like a couple of strands in my hair. Is that normal? Why do I have white hair? It doesn't run in the family.

I'm not trying to be racist but are you Asian? because some Asians develop hair changes when they are younger and it is just in there genes, so if you are Asian then yes it is normal. But if your not then it could be from too much stress from school and drama! so treat you and your friends to a day at the spa once and awhile that should help! and if you are really self conscious about it and things dont clear up go to your doctor and maybe if you want go and die your hair

my friend had the same thing. i think it was caused by stress. try to relax more, maybe 5 minutes of "quiet time" every now and then, a nap or a bath.

stress, malnutrition. most likely stress. a kid in sophomore year of highschool has hair sparingly through his head.

he was accumulating tons of stress -- grades, family, school, acting, memorizing lines, afterschool commitments, girlfriends, music, extracurricular activities.

people often get grey hair early its like genetic my mom got grey hair when she was young and so did my sister and so did my grandfather so its a family thing...

Some people say you can get white hair from stress. I have naturally blond hair and sometimes it looks like i have a few white hair also. Maybe Some high-lights would help.

It's just a lack of pigment in a few hair folicles.

Sometimes you have a patch of white hair and it mostly comes form a birth mark on your head....or it could be in your genes....

It may not "run in the family" as a dominant characteristic, but you may've received previously unexpressed recessive genes (genes that only express when received from both parents) from both of your parents. This is how blue eyes or red hair can just "pop up", it may've run into the family hundreds of years ago, with the genes not matching up until now.

Poor nutrition can prompt early graying.

I had a few strands in the crown area at your age. I plucked them. I didn't begin greying at the temples until I was in my 40s. You don't hear as much about teens' gray hair because they don't admit to having any. It's probably relatively common to have a few.

The gray will be more noticeable not only because of the difference in color, but because it's usually a different texture as well. My gray was coarser and physically stuck out from my finer, limper dark hair. A few hairs on the crown were easily plucked, when patten graying began, that wasn't an option. The challenge was to keep the new growth from sticking straight out at each side like a Gremlin's locks.
