Why do you have to wash your hair everyday???

I'm just curious. I decided to ask this question because I just read another question regarding this. Someone asked if they HAVE to wash their hair everyday, and all of the responses was "YOU MUST WASH IT EVERYDAY".

I am black, and we don't wash our hair everyday. Why do other races, mainly white's, have to wash their hair everyday? As a matter of fact, black hair is the total opposite. Washing our hair everyday will more than likely destroy it.

This is not to start any type of racial debate, I'm just curious why your hair has to be washed everyday but ours don't. It's obvious that we have different grades of hair, but that still doesn't explain why some hair needs washed every day, and some doesn't.

actually... its not good for white girls to wash their hair everyday.. it takes all the oils and natural shine out that they need for it not to look washed out, knotted or dry... as for african american hair... it is absolutley not good waht so ever to wash your hair everday.. if you had sewed in extensions, or braids.. those 2 can last 2 weeks to a month... sometimes even longer... if you wear your natural hair.. its good to wash it maybe once everday week.. and tahts at the earliest.. you dont want your hair to get to dry and be stripped of all its natural moisture.

Hair doesn't HAVE to be washed everyday lol. If you have naturally oily hair, then yes you should wash it to get rid of build-up. But your hair, for example, is drier than other people's hair. I have dry, thick, curly hair, and if I wash it everyday, it will get way too dried out. Only people with very oily hair need to wash their hair everyday.

white have some sesetive hair and head skain which easly effected by weather and dust and if they didn't wash it regulary they may get some desises

Caucasian hair isn'tsupposed to be washed every day, the shampoo always strips natural oils from your hair and leaves each strand with virtually no protection from the elements. Most women should wash their hair every other day with a ph-balanced shampoo and use a leave-in conditioner. Only if your hair is really excessively oily should you strip the oils of the hair every day. That's crazy. No wonder you see so many people with unhealthy hair.

I don't think that washing your hair ever single day is such a good idea it will dry it out and make more split ends. I usually wash my hair two-three times a week (Monday,Thursday) but again i don't do a lot to make my hair oily i try to avoid styling products that make your hair dirty looking a lot faster.

first off, i'm Black and i wash my hair EVERYDAY and by doing that, i'm not destroying it. If you are Black and you wash your hair everyday, that doesn't mean you are destroying it. that is an old wives tale. my hair needs washing everyday because it gets dirty everyday and it feel good to have a nice clean head EVERYDAY.

you don't have to wash your hair EVERY DAY som people do like me but thats only because i get VERY greasy hair and if i don't wash it it will smell like durty hair. ew nasty.

Fawn: Hey! Okay I understand your problem. I know that black races have some "corse" hair. No offense toward your race. Anyway, whites like my sister and me wash our hair everday because if we don't it gets all greazy and nasty. If you dont wash your hair everyday, I suggest you put on hair moizterizers. :)

Dawn: Hey!!! Like Fawn said, white's hair gets very greasy because of it's texture. No offense to ur hair and other black's hair but, as we know, it is a different texture. Actually, no one should wash their hair everyday. Most stylists recommend washing your hair every other day to every 3 days. I have a few friends who wash their hair every day because its very thin and gets greasy. I have really thick hair and only wash mine about 3 times per week.

Mostly white's have to wash their hair every day cuz if they don't it would look nappy.We black don't have to cuz our hair can last up to two wash without wash cuz it has more moisture in it so we won't have to wash it everyday.I hope I helped and goos luck.

I'm white and I think whoever says to wash your hair everyday reguardless of race is wrong..I have high maintenance hair (i get it highlighted funky colored a lot) if I wash it everyday just as you said it will destroy the look I am going for and wash my color out much faster and even bleed and mix colors..so i stay to a every other day thing. I know some people who go once a week. Its more a personal preference and how you keep it up beyond washing.
