Two days ago I went from blondish brown to soft black.Don't worry it looks good except for the fact that my hair is going back to blonde. Everytime I dye my hair it does this no matter what the color. It's so frustrating cause I want it to be this color really bad.Now in 1997 I had stripped my color from my hair and it was as white as snow. But since then grew it out and chopped it off and now it's back down to my butt.So I don't think its that. What can I do to keep my hair from going back to blondish brown every time I dye my hair?
Why won't my hair stay dyed?
Be sure youre using a permanent dye and that youre using enough. You may need two bottles since your hair is so long. Also avoid washing your fair for 24-48 hours...longer if possible and be sure to use a shampoo that is designed for color treated hair. Otherwise if its a color you really want Id go to a professional and be sure that their work is guaranteed.

If you're using permanent dye it should be working. Perhaps you are using some sort of hair treatment (e.g., shampoo, gel, etc.) that contradicts and washes it out. You should use a dye that has a special protective sealant and use color-protecting hair products as well.Or it could have been because you stripped the pigment from your hair, thus disabling its soak-ability.
You should consult a hair specialist for best results.
Good luck!
